Course Brief

Organizations respond to dynamic changes in the following two ways which in turn will lead to unproductive results:

  • Most organizations do not respond quickly
  • Most organizations implement knee-jerk improvements

Kaizen Event is thus an effective tool for moving past “analysis paralysis,” tying improvements to a larger strategy, and involving all the essential perspectives to create relevant, measurable, and sustainable improvements.

The Kaizen Event is usually a two – to five – day focused improvement activity during which sequestered, cross-functional team designs and fully implements improvements to a defined process or work area.

This course has been developed to assist Kaizen improvement team leaders and members to create a structured environment in which teams learn how to identify waste and apply specific lean tools to eliminate it.

Additionally, the course is structured around a set of Excel-based tools and templates that will be supplied to participants. The tools serve as standard work for planning and executing Kaizen Events and conducting post-event follow-up.

Course Objectives
  • Know the inter-relationship of Lean Thinking and Kaizen Event
  • Inter-relate customer perceived value, value-stream and waste identification
  • Outline the thirteen (13) Kaizen Event characteristics
  • Appreciate the link between Kaizen Event and PDCA
